A ready supper, cooked chicken for a recipe, or broth for the pot.

Sweet Sue is a pantry brand from the American South. Its name has stood on canned chicken since the 1960s, and its best-known can is still Chicken & Dumplings: white chicken and flour dumplings in a thick broth, ready to heat. Every label carries the same line above the name, From the kitchens of Sweet Sue.
The range today is short and practical. Nine cans and pouches cover three jobs: a supper that only needs heating, cooked chicken for a recipe, and broth for the pot. Each comes in more than one size, because a single cook and a church kitchen do not open the same can.
What sets the Sweet Sue shelf apart is the spread of sizes. The same chunk white chicken comes as a 3 oz pouch, a 5 oz can and a 10 oz can. Chicken & Dumplings and chicken broth each come as a small can and as a bulk can near 3 pounds.

Rice or noodles tonightA 14.5 oz can pours about 2 cups of chicken broth.Chicken Broth, 14.5 oz Can, from $2.29 Chicken & Dumplings is the can most people mean when they say Sweet Sue. The 24 oz can holds about 3 one-cup servings, each with 14 g of protein and 190 calories. The 48 oz bulk can doubles that to about 6 cups for a family pot.
The label is plain about what is inside: water, enriched wheat flour, white chicken, chicken fat and chicken broth lead the list, and the dish contains eggs and wheat. Buyers heat it as it is, or stretch a can with peas, carrots and a splash of cream.

Cups per can, sodium per cup, and what the USDA says about dates and dents on cans.
Sweet Sue chunk white chicken is chicken breast with rib meat, fully cooked and packed in water. The 5 oz can gives about 2 two-ounce servings with 11 g of protein each. The 10 oz can holds twice the fill for a casserole or a pot of soup. The 3 oz pouch has no water to drain and opens without a tool.
The 50 oz can is a different pack: boneless chicken meat in its own broth, 25 servings to a can. It suits a kitchen that cooks for a crowd and wants the broth as well. All of it is cooked already, so the work is opening, draining and mixing.

Great chicken in individual packages
Great for anyone who can’t receive canned goods. The chicken is great quality and I’ve purchased it several times for a family member who needs this type of packaging. He loves it!
Sweet Sue canned boneless whole chicken
Sweet Sue whole canned boneless chicken comes in handy when you want to fix a good meal quick for the family. Try it!
Good Product use it all the time.
Good product & use it all the time. The only problem is there was 2 dents on the edge where the can opener needs to be. Will have to open it manually.
Tasty and easy to use
Great to have on hand to add to soup or salad. Also makes great sandwiches for small servings.
Chicken and dumplings
I loved these as a child and as a teenager but it's like they changed something in them they don't taste the same anymore so I would say it's a no go for me to buy again I don't recommend them anymore
Tasty good Chicken for salads or creamed Chicken
It was very good . Just the right amount for one person living alone
Sweet Sue chicken broth comes seasoned and ready to pour. The 14.5 oz can holds about 2 cups, the amount most recipes ask for. The 49.5 oz bulk can holds about 6 cups for a full pot of soup. Beef broth comes in the same small can, sold four to a pack.
Broth is the saltiest part of the range by the cup, so the label is worth a look before the pot is seasoned. A cup of the chicken broth carries 870 mg of sodium. Cooks who watch salt add the broth first and the shaker last.
